I hope your OK. I enjoyed your writing quite a bit, and I am sad to see this happen. I was hoping this was an April Fools, but it is posted on the wrong day :(
I, too, want to add my well wishes. I hope whatever is stopping you from writing is nothing bad, and that you can continue soon; I greatly look forward to the continuation of the story. Thank you for publishing what you have - it has already brought me great pleasure to read.
I second (3rd? 4th?) that. I was heartbroken when Merger halted after the killing, and temporarily very happy when the story reincarnated as Integration.
For what it's worth, I had the impression the story was really picking up steam again and progressing realistically and logically; both the style and the plot were getting better, IMO. This makes me even more eager to read more.
Whatever the holdup, I join in the best wishes for its reason to go away.
I have been reading both MM and MI the last few days.
I loved MM. Utterly. Well written, interesting people, interesting world, exciting story. All the parts of a good novel.
MI has all that, except for the story. It is too much of an epilogue for MM. It is still a very enjoyable read, but not quite as good as the original. (The doom of all sequels)
I suspect this is the reason for the hiatus?
The interaction with Alanna shows promise, it feels like the beginning of a new great story. However, getting there took too long.
I am not a writer, but I will nevertheless offer some unsolicited advice. In my defence, I am a very experienced READER.
It may sound brutal, but I think you should ditch this half-novel. It does not work.
However, you don't need to start from scratch! You have a well crafted world, a good set of characters and even some prose that can be reused. Feel free to copy-paste parts of this work into the new one where they fit.
Just, this time, have some idea of which story you are going to tell before starting.
I hope this advice is more encouraging than the opposite.
